"Silhouettes By Blane" began in 1987, drawing mostly children at preschools.  In 1997, "Silhouettes By Blane" has operated under the umbrella name of "Art a la Carte, LLC" (her art enrichment practice as an art educator) to provide silhouette drawing services at special events to include bridal parties, rehearsal dinners and weddings.

A bride and groom has the opportunity to purchase my services for any or all of the following: Online orders of bridal party members as their special 'thank you' gifts, full or partial silhouettes of the bride and groom (images may be used in stationery and/or as an elegant, classic portrayal of the newlyweds at the reception) and/or as a special celebratory favor for the guests at the wedding reception.  If I were to come to the rehearsal dinner as well, I could draw silhouettes of the family, saving guests to do at the reception.   While I live in Richmond, VA, I am available and willing to travel to provide my unique and professional silhouette portrait service for you and your loved ones to further assist you in your celebration!

"Silhouettes By Blane" will add classic, cultural enrichment to your special day!  Silhouette portraits can be made of any one, of any age, and is oftentimes simply a fun attraction for guests to enjoy watching.  These hand-crafted silhouette portraits make timeless keepsake treasures as favors for your guests, which will be a wonderful way to remember your special day and your valued relationship.

Additional details:
For special events, typically I am hired at the hourly rate of $125 per hour, with a three-hour minimum. I have found it advantageous for all for me to be present at the rehearsal dinner to draw the immediate family, wedding party (although I could be present at a bridal party, in the case of large weddings, families. This could serve as bridesmaids' and groomsmen's gifts as well). Without taking up much space at all, my service is available at the reception to draw as many guests as possible. Whether or not everyone receives a silhouette portrait of themselves or not, this service adds a touch of class and provides entertainment and for those who desire them the most - a chance to receive such a keepsake treasure. The option is available should some desire to have a silhouette made of their child (who may or may not be present) instead of themselves, and can acquire one at another date/time through my email - simply by sending a profile picture with reference made to the event, so as to receive a special discount or free gift, depending on what is desired. Images can be Classic in style (minimal detail so as to draw a person within five minutes) or Victorian (which takes approximately ten minutes to complete). Typically, I observe the crowd/interest and adapt accordingly without bringing attention to the two different options. I also give the bride and groom a silhouette of themselves, facing one another, as a 'thank you' gift from me, for hiring my services.
