This central Illinois wedding was first planned to take place in January, but when Kelly’s best friend who was going to be one of her bridesmaid’s found out she was expecting a baby at that time, Ryan and Kelly changed their date to April. Of course her flower choices changed along with her new date which turned out to be a wonderful photo opportunity as the bluebells were in full bloom at the nearby Humiston Woods.
The flowers were an important aspect of their overall vision which was “elegant and romantic but with a natural feel.” The barest whisper of blush bridesmaids dresses set the tone for the flower color choices of blush, soft peachy pink and cream blooms. We used garden roses to add a romantic look with their big full blooms and to give a natural feel we mixed in eucalyptus parvifolia which provided the perfect gray/green contrast to the pastel flowers. For a touch of elegance the bouquets were wrapped in a soft gold ribbon.
The wedding took place at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Pontiac, Illinois and provided a beautiful backdrop with it’s stained glass windows and wonderful old wooden pews for the pew decor of mixed greens, garden rose and fluffy tulle bow.
The reception was held at the nearby Elk’s Club in a beautiful woodland setting. In going with the natural feel, we placed flowers into wooden boxes for the reception table centerpieces and mixed green garlands along the head table and desert tables, but to maintain an elegant feel, mercury gold votives surrounded the wooden box designs and gold sparkly table linens adorned the head table and desert tables.
