My response to the above: I was late to your wedding. This was a venue that I had not been to. I made a mistake of not going to the venue prior to your wedding day and got lost. My GPS was not working. It kept taking me to the wrong place. Your wedding was the first and only wedding in over 75 weddings that I performed that I have been late to. I learn a valuable lesson to travel to the venue prior to the actual wedding date when the rehearsal is not being held at a venue I am not familiar. Yes, I was flustered when I arrived because I was late and extremely embarrassed and upset at myself. You did have large number of your family and friends compliment me on the ceremony and the delivery. I did say that I would give a refund; but, I never indicated how much of a refund. As to the “words your wrote yourself,” you didn’t write any of it, since you choose them from the book I provided to you; the Ceremony Idea Booklet which I call “the book of inspiration.” It contains over 216 pages of ideas, wording, and various rituals such as sand ceremony, unity candle, ceremonies, lasso ceremonies, and more. Most of my couples use this book to choose the wording, ideas, or ceremonies for their ceremony. When a couples requests, I assist them in taking what they selected and customize it even more to their ideas. As far as the drinking goes, it was a poor decision on your part to allow the bar to be opened. Non-alcoholic beverages could have been served. There are two other things I would like to respond to regarding your wedding. First of all why are you writing about this 8 months after your wedding? What are you trying to achieve by doing so? I always say, that in the end, you are married that is what you asked me to do that day and that is what happened. Secondly, you provided me with contact information which was incorrect. I tried the phone numbers of each person on the list and each phone number was incorrect. Had I received the correct information or if someone had called me, I could have arrived on time and disaster would have been diverted. There was poor planning on your part and on mine. I think we both have learned some valuable lessons, I know I have. I will never be late for a wedding again. My hope is that future couples learn that providing truthful information and keeping the Officiant informed will prevent your Officiant from being late too. I do want to add that it was a pleasure to perform your ceremony even with all the issues. I am happy for you and your husband and wish you many blessings in the future.
