Wedding Budget
Is your wedding budget feeling kind of tight? Can your wedding budget even afford the honeymoon? How about having a do-it-yourself wedding?
By deciding to go with a do-it-yourself wedding, you can save you money for the important costs, like a nice honeymoon. Do-it-yourself weddings are also a chance to make some very happy memories. You get to go to the stores and find the items that you want to use to make your magical occasion even better. Your wedding budget will be happy, because you will have less money going out for others to do the things that you can do.
For starters, you can make your own invitations. There are plenty of card making programs for the computer. There is also a type of paper known as cardstock for you to be able to print your invitations on. The total for buying a program or design and the cardstock would be maybe $10.00 to $15.00. Nothing in comparison to the $50.00 that you would pay to get them professionally done for 40 to 50 invites. Plus you will have cardstock left over to be able to use for your "Thank you" cards after the wedding is over.
While you are getting your invitations done, you can spend some time picking out you honeymoon location. The sooner that you plan and pay for your honeymoon, the more money that you will save and be able to spend while you are there.
Once that is done, your next big thing is to decide the color theme of the wedding. Also, the type of wedding that you want. You may decide to have a themed wedding like pirates or famous historic couples. You may decide to be more traditional. With a do-it-yourself wedding, you get the chance to decide what you want to do. You then can become a dollar store guru. Many of the items that you can use to decorate with can be found in most dollar stores.
You can by 20 centerpiece vases with flowers for about $40.00. You can then place two candles on the table for between $20.00 and $40.00 depending on the ones you like best. Once those are done, you can get your table clothes for $20.00 to $40.00 depending on if you want single or double layers. You wedding budget should already be feeling a little bit better.
For a do-it-yourself wedding budget, you may want to talk around and see what friends are either bakers or love to cook. You may be able to recruit them to help with the meal plan for only a fraction of what it would cost for you to go to a caterer. You can ask anyone who is a baker or loves to bake to help you with the wedding budget. You may find that the best option for the cake is to go to a local supermarket. Many supermarkets have their own bakery that does wedding or special occasion styles of cakes. This would still be less expensive to the wedding budget than hiring a baker would be.
Since you have only decorated the tables, it is now time to think of how you want the wedding itself to look. You may decide to have a carpet put down for the bridal party to walk the aisle. Another option that is easy to do is a do-it-yourself walkway where the chairs outline the walk area. This would help cut the costs of the carpet and would still look very professionally planned out.
Now your next step should be calling airlines and hotels about the honeymoon. This way you can be able to get the best available pricing for the honeymoon. You do not want to wait until the last minute, because it will cost you too much for the trip.

Now if you want to have an outdoor wedding, I would also consider getting a few plants from your local garden center and an arbor. These are items that you can use after the wedding to decorate your home, but they will also make an outdoor wedding look top notch. With the arbor, you can jazz it up by adding some vines from the local dollar store. This little do-it-yourself trick with make it look like you are spending a fortune on the wedding, when you know yourself that the wedding budget was a lot cheaper than it looks.
About a week or two before the wedding, make sure that you have everything worked out for the honeymoon, including who is going to care for any pets or children. You do not want to leave for the honeymoon, and remember that there is no one to care for your children or pets.
A do-it-yourself wedding is a great way for you to be able to save as much money as possible while still making your special day the most memorable ever.
